This is also the main objective of ubi i/o, a Bpifrance sponsored 10 week program that brings 8 of France’s most promising start-ups to San Francisco in order to help them get established in American markets. The efficacy of this program was highlighted two weeks ago when two ubi i/o alum won the World Cup Tech Challenge – a competition on Microsoft’s Mountain View campus where a panel of experts select six companies they think are most likely to succeed. There were 30 start-ups from 15 different countries in attendance and they each pitched their business plan to a panel which included Silicon Valley professionals and international investors such as Microsoft Ventures, Inter Capital, Samsung Ventures, IBM and many others. As mentioned above, two of the six chosen companies were not only French start-ups but Bpi i/o alum – Sublime Skinz and Contract Live.
